Established a post-earthquake reference for the municipal office building and its interaction with neighboring structures.
Challenge
Following the November 2016 Kaikōura earthquake, the Municipal Office Building’s frequencies, damping, and mode shapes needed measurement.
STRAAM approach
On November 28, 2016, STRAAM completed an approximately eight-hour assessment using ten triaxial accelerometers and two SKG systems at 200 samples per second.
Result
The work documented how the office building responded after the earthquake, including its relationship with adjoining structures.
