Impact
Established how the lighthouse moved overall and confirmed separation in parts of its exterior shell, giving preservation and engineering teams a clear basis for follow-up.
Challenge
The lighthouse required assessment of global movement and localized exterior-shell response, including potential differential movement.
STRAAM approach
STRAAM measured global vibration modes and localized shell response on the 167 ft structure using four triaxial accelerometers at 200 samples per second.
Result
STRAAM’s work documented the lighthouse’s overall movement and found areas where exterior panels had separated. This gave the project team a practical reference for preservation planning.
