Impact
Used measured response and an engineering model to estimate how the performing-arts centre’s frame and walls could respond to design winds.
Challenge
The steel frame and CMU walls required assessment of their interaction and localized response, subject to documented access limits.
STRAAM approach
STRAAM measured the structure’s dynamic behavior for Raba Kistner, calibrated a finite-element model, and assessed wall behavior under supplied design pressures.
Result
The model estimated wall movement under the supplied design wind conditions, while field observations helped the engineers understand the building’s response.
