Established a post-earthquake reference for a sports venue that remained in use.
Challenge
The arena’s coupled truss systems, mode shapes, and damping response required assessment after the November 2016 Kaikōura earthquake.
STRAAM approach
On November 29, 2016, STRAAM measured the one-arena facility for about five hours using five triaxial accelerometers and an SKG at 200 samples per second.
Result
The work documented the venue’s response after the earthquake while it continued operating, providing a reference for future comparison.
