Tall Buildings

SG produces a risk profile for tall buildings based on their measured response to ambient forces such as wind or traffic. This risk profile can be used to compare the actual response with the design assumptions, to assess the building’s compliance with code requirements, to check that changes to the structure have been effective or to assess the effects of any nearby work on the building. The profile of measured response tracked back to a source location of vibration can also be used to pressure authorities to conduct nearby road maintenance. SG maintains a very large database about the norms of structural characteristics, and this provides a reference point to compare the actual behavior of the building with what is acceptable.
