Chairman Emeritus

Charles H. Thornton is one of the preeminent structural engineers, educators and philanthropists in the world; he served as co-chairman of Thornton Tomasetti until 2004. He has been involved in the design, construction and analysis of billions of dollars worth of projects worldwide.   His award-winning work has set industry standards for innovative thinking and creativity.   Charlie founded the Architecture, Construction and Engineering (ACE) Mentor Program, a non-profit organization that since 1993 has offered guidance and training to more than 40,000 inner-city high school students in 106 cities across the United States.   Charlie has led the structural design of some of the world’s most significant and monumental structures, including two of the tallest: Taipei 101 in Taiwan and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.   He was a founder of STRAAM Corp in 2008, prior to the 2014 employee asset purchase and is continuing to help guide the use of the advanced technology in the field of Civil Engineering.  He is currently Chairman of Charles H. Thornton & Company, LLC, a management and strategic consulting firm.

Mr. Braverman is currently a Managing Partner at Milestone Active Management, LLC which focuses on investing in niche-
leading companies.  They employ a very active management approach, leveraging their direct operating management experience along with a deep bench of senior operating managers.  He also is CEO of Global Business Funding Group which provides hands on-active management for portfolio companies such as Impact Power Technologies.  His broad operational and finance experience has provided STRAAM Group with strong guidance and insight regarding the strategic growth of our company.  Previously, Alan held senior positions at US Trust, NBC Internet, B of A Securities, Deutsche Bank Securities, Credit Suisse First Boston.

Wayne Dunn, PE

Wayne Dunn, PE, has been involved with project management, systems integration, quality assurance and commissioning for over 20 years. Project experience varies from Modern Offices to Laboratories and Launch Complexes with effort focused on equipment/ system validation, improving technical performance and energy efficiency.  Currently Wayne is retro-commissioning 3+M SF that comprise the Florida State Capitol Complex along with a few other cool projects including a data center seeking Tier 4 status.

Society involvement includes USGBC and ASHRAE, having chaired technical committees such as ASHRAE: SSPC 55 Thermal Comfort Standard & ASHRAE: GPC 20 – XML Definitions for HVAC&R. Wayne has published several papers on commissioning relating to risk management, energy performance and owner satisfaction. He is an industry speaker on energy efficiency and commissioning.

In addition to being a registered professional engineer in USA and Canada Wayne is a LEED AP and holds an AEE certificate as an indoor air quality professional.  He is a member of ASHRAE, USGBC, & ASQ.

Christopher Rojahn New

Christopher Rojahn

Christopher Rojahn, a registered Civil Engineer in California, is Director Emeritus of the Applied Technology Council (ATC).  He spent 33 years at the ATC as Executive Director and served as Principal Investigator on more than 50 major projects involving earthquake and natural hazard mitigation issues, including seismic vulnerability assessment of buildings, bridges and other lifeline structures; methods for rapid and detailed seismic capacity evaluation of buildings; guidelines for the seismic rehabilitation of buildings; and procedures for post-earthquake safety evaluation of buildings. Prior to joining ATC, he was a Research Civil Engineer in the Office of Earthquake Studies at the U.S. Geological Survey, where his work focused primarily on the acquisition and analysis of earthquake strong-motion data from instrumented structures as well as the development of methods and schemes for instrumenting buildings and bridges.  His skills and experience will help provide guidance for STRAAM Group to expand their reach and target their offering.  

Jack Snyder New

Jack Snyder

Managing Director Jack Snyder leads a team of 6 experts that comprise the Rating Agency Advisory Practice of Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC. He is based in Guy Carpenter’s Morristown, New Jersey office.

Prior to joining Guy Carpenter in 2005, Jack was the Chief Marketing Officer at Munich Reinsurance America. He managed the firm’s Corporate Marketing department, which was responsible for publications, public relations, research, company events, internal and external communications and brand management. He also assisted Am Re in identifying attractive business segments. In addition, Jack’s department helped identify prospects and developed strategic and tactical marketing plans. Prior to joining Am Re in 2001, Jack was the Chief Ratings Officer at the A.M. Best Company where he worked for eleven years. He was also a stock equity analyst following insurance stocks at Smith Barney and began his career as an underwriter with General Reinsurance Corporation.

Jack holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Bucknell University (’82) and an MBA from Cornell University (’84).

Jim Walsh NewJim Walsh

Over the past 15 years James has directed nearly every function of an organization from Sales to Customer Experience, Operations, Finance, and Information Technology and have gained experience across multiple industries including: engineering, construction, high tech, software, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, consumer products, financial services, management consulting, telecom and media.

As a highly collaborative executive, he enjoys creating relationships and the challenge of building consensus across a diverse group of individuals. James believes in creating value for all stakeholders (customers, employees, shareholders), and feel it is best achieved when everyone is on the same page. His role as leader has been to create a business vision and culture where the company and its people can thrive, and that leadership has resulted in:

  • Growing 4 multi-national or global P&Ls ranging from $13MM to $100MM in 4 different firms.
  • The successful turnaround and integration of Earth Tech into AECOM as a member of the Executive Management Team.
  • Contribution of over $1B in new revenue as a member of AECOM’s M&A Team.
  • The delivery of multiple customer transformation projects, resulting in cost savings and an increase in customer and employee satisfaction in both B2C and B2B businesses.
  • He holds an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Business Management and BBA in Finance & Business Law from Temple University.
